The Rotary Club of Diss and District was formed 1947 and so this Rotary year (2018/19) represents our 71st Anniversary. During that time we have met in a number of different places in the Diss area but for the last twenty years we have met on a Tuesday at the Park Hotel, Park Road, Diss.

For information regarding our regular meetings please check our Calendar which shows the date and subject of each meeting.

From our start in 1947 we have been serving the people of Diss and surrounding area as well as contributing to many International Rotary projects. Rotary is the world’s largest service organisation and the members of the Rotary Club of Diss and District are happy to represent their key principle "Service above Self"

For many years the Rotary Club of Diss & District have given a Christmas Tree to the town and floated it on a specially made platform on Diss Mere. A few years ago the Club called on the Young Farmers to help with this annual event! Despite the wind and cold this Sunday the Christmas Tree was erected onto it's platform and lowered into the Mere. The Ex Rotary President Dick Mitchell together with Rotary Friend Nick Griffiths took the tree out towards the middle of the Mere,, in their rowing boat and anchored it there. Various other Rotarians including President Alison Bannister decorated the tree with many lights. Next Saturday, to coincide with the playing of Christmas Organ music by Jonny Ling at the Mere's mouth, the lights will be switched on.

Members of the Rotary Club of Diss & District combined with volunteers from the River Waveney Trust to plant trees at the Frenze Beck Nature Reserve on Saturday 24th November. It happened to be the start of National Tree week, (first established in 1975 to respond to the replanting needed after Dutch Elm disease) but actually the tree planting was a response to the challenge for each Rotary Club throughout the world to plant one tree for every member. On this day local Rotarians must have planted at least four for each member!!
